Terms and Conditions for Driving Lessons

The instructor will arrive at the agreed ‘Pickup Point’ for the lesson and wait for the arrival of the student. The instructor will not knock the door to call the student – the student should look out for the instructor.

It is the student’s responsibility to ensure that he/she is fit to drive.  Being unfit to drive through intoxication will result in the lesson being cancelled and the full lesson fee being due.

Cancellation of a lesson should be done by telephone wherever possible.  If a lesson is cancelled via a text message the instructor is NOT responsible for the time that the message was sent and any delays in receiving it. If the instructor cannot answer the person, a voice message should be left giving full name and date and time left.

There may be occasions where the instructor has to cancel lessons due to weather or unforeseen circumstances.  The pupil will be contacted and the lesson rescheduled.

Practical Test Booking Policy – please see the attached.

Block lessons are offered at a discounted rate.  They must be paid for in advance to be entitled to the reduced rate.

If lessons are to be refunded from a block booking, those lessons already taken will be charged at the FULL rate.

No guarantee is given as to the candidate passing his or her driving test.  The instructor will do her best to ensure the candidate is prepared to the best level possible in the time available but the test is examined by the Driving Standards Agency (DSA).

Please feel free to discuss any of the above Terms and Conditions with your Instructor upon receipt.

If no objections are raised, consent will be implied.

Booking your Practical Driving Test

Terms and Conditions

Your instructor will advise you when you are ready to apply for a driving test taking into account local waiting times.  Please do not book a driving test without discussing it first with your instructor.

If the standard of driving required by the instructor for the practical test has not been reached, extra hours will need to be booked, paid for and instruction given before the candidate is taken for test.  If the candidate has any grievance in this connection, it is their prerogative to seek a second opinion from another instructor.

Please note that in the interest of public safety your instructor reserves the right to withdraw their vehicle for use on the test, if he or she believes that it could be unsafe to allow you to take the test.

Please bear in mind that you will always have an hour lesson before your driving test, therefore if you book an 8.40am test it will be a 7.30am start.  The hour before your test and the hour of your test will be classed as a two hour lesson for the purpose of payment.

Please also bear in mind, that if you are booking an 8.40am or 9.37am test in winter, there is a possibility that these tests may be cancelled due to bad weather.  If a test is cancelled by the DSA due to weather or any other circumstances, the DSA will select another date, but the pupil may be required to wait another 2-6 weeks.  If the date selected by the DSA is not convenient with the instructor or pupil, an alternative date will be agreed.  The instructor cannot be held responsible for tests cancelled by the DSA for any reason.

In the event of mechanical failure on the day of your test, your instructor will arrange to pay for another driving test for you. This is the limit of his or her liability.

It is the pupil’s responsibility to ensure they bring all the correct paperwork to the test ie: both parts of driving licence (paper and photo), theory test pass certificate and letter of appointment.  If you fail to bring these documents the test may not go ahead and your fee will be lost.
